Funded by National Coordinating Centre for Service Delivery and Organisation
Principle Investigator / Lead Institution: Professor Tom Burns
Field of research: Mental health, outcome measure development
Qualitative methodology: Focus groups, Expert Panels and interviews with service users; clinician surveys.
This study used focus groups and Expert Panels to generate a service user defined outcome measure of continuity of care. Further research compared service users’ conceptualisation of continuity of care with clinicians’ definitions, generated through a staff survey. Further secondary grounded theory analysis of the qualitative focus group data generated a model of the role of fear in mental health service users’ lives.
