In the documentary ‘Briser le silence des amphis’, undergraduate and postgraduate students, and staff members testify to the sexist and sexual violence they suffered on a French university campus. As part of ESRC Festival of Social Science, join us for this special screening (50 minutes) which will be followed by a discussion and Q&A with Corinne Nativel - a producer on the film, Jelke Boesten and Phoebe Martin – with conversations around sexual harassment against and among young people, safe and unsafe spaces, and contributing toward positive changes.

The ESRC Centre for Society and Mental Health is excited to announce its third conference will take place on Tuesday 1st October 2024 at Science Gallery London. The conference will be an important gathering for all interested in putting society at the heart of how we think about and understand mental health – don’t miss this opportunity to be part of the conversation!

The perinatal period is a time when women who use drugs are often keen to engage with treatment and ante-natal services, yet health and social welfare outcomes are highly variable for this group both in the UK and internationally. This one day conference will share findings from The Stepping Stones Study, which ran from October 2021 – April 2024, evaluating the different care models and pathways for pregnant women who use drugs, from early pregnancy to one year after the birth of their baby.

Dr Steph Morris presents findings of a longitudinal qualitative study (January 2022-April 2024) with 47 UC claimants who reported mental and/or physical health conditions. She will reflect on the benefits and the challenges of using a longitudinal methodology to explore and disseminate such policy relevant findings.

Bren Neale will give a brief overview of qualitative longitudinal research (QLR) and outline some of its unique features, including its capacity to capture complex causal processes through time. She will then consider the challenges of this methodology and how to overcome them, including issues relating to sample maintenance, data deluge, longitudinal ethics and the complexities of three-dimensional (case-theme-processual) analysis.
