26 Mar 2025, 13:00 to 16:00
London Institute for Healthcare Engineering

This free workshop is hosted by the King's Health Partners Digital Health Hub. Click here for booking details.

This workshop will introduce the WREN wheel, a new tool to support systematic change and aid critical group reflection during the co-design process. The tool has been developed through use in the NHS, charities, and higher education, in response to evolving societal values and paradigm shifts in systemic design.

This workshop will be led by one of the WREN wheel’s creators, Dr Victoria Betton. Victoria is designer and facilitator in human-centred design mindsets and practices and systems thinking. She has over 25 years’ experience of working across charities, social work, NHS, local government, third sector, and digital health startups. Her work helps people and organisations with digital strategy and transformation meaningful social impact in the health and care sector.

The WREN wheel fosters discussion and alignment on strengths, weaknesses, and areas for development in healthcare settings through four lenses:

[W] Workable: This lens incorporates aspects of feasibility, capability and durability

[R] Responsible: This lens incorporates purpose, evidence and environmental sustainability

[E] Equitable: This lens is about equity and fairness; diversity and checking bias

[N] Needs-driven: This lens considers the needs of primary users and stakeholders in the ecosystem.

This workshop will introduce the background to WREN, its application in practice and how it can be used as part of a process of co-designing for digital health. Participants will have an opportunity to apply WREN to a future, current, or past project, enabling them to later complete the process in full with their own co-design stakeholders.
